“Love and Trouble” brings together two compelling West Australian songwriters for a shared launch show at Clancy's Fish Pub Fremantle on 17 July 2026.

Celebrating his latest release Being Better, Gary James Benness takes the stage with a full band for a rare live performance. Inspired by his recent journey east to attend the 2026 CMAA Senior Academy in Tamworth, Benness’ songwriting explores themes of travel, self-improvement, and belonging. Blending modern fingerstyle and slide guitar with influences from folk, country, and blues traditions, his performances are heartfelt, intimate, and deeply resonant.

The evening also marks the launch of Lavender Lover, the latest single from Midnight Francine. Recorded in Broome at Red Earth Studios, the track is a dark, gripping murder ballad that leans into a heavier rock sound, weaving a story of infidelity, rage, and reckoning. Known for her evocative songwriting, Midnight Francine crafts songs that move between love, longing, womanhood, and lived experience with honesty and intensity.

With support from Brainbound, an up-and-coming indie rock group, Love and Trouble promises a night of raw storytelling and powerful performances.
